114. Fragrant plants

6:49 AM
since the very beginning I've a very specific idea of what types of plants i want grown at our garden.  been searching all over johor right up to muar back to spore nurseries finally i've found them.

Top left hand corner on the left:
Melaleuca leucadendron aka pokok kayu putih aka pokok gelam aka australian dwarf eucalyptus trees

Top left hand corner on the right:
Quisqualis indica aka Drunken Sailor aka Chinese honeysuckle or Rangoon Creeper aka sesunduk

Top right hand corner:
Lavender plants

Bottom:
2 fruity plants

for my Fragrant Garden
all were bought from a small roadside nursery the road after UTM towards pontian, this is our second buy from this apek as our earlier batek, gum and japanese bamboos were also from here. the apek is very informative and knows his plants to a T giving us the accurate name and tips readily.  He can identify even from the photos that i showed to him thru iphone.
Prices are comparably cheap compared to the others we've been in town and free transportation.

108. Fruit trees

5:44 AM
Sunday, 07/11/10 a Green day for us for we planted 2 fruit trees at our designated kawasan bercucuk tanam.
We were lucky to acquire this corner house as it came with a vacant plot of land separating space for a safe distance from the TNB.
We take "ownership" of this space since its directly beside our house and feel compel to have a nice landscaping that is aesthetical to the surrounding of garden concept. In line with this we have to exercise restraint in haphazard planting until a nice design is agreed upon.
A raised herbs bed is also being considered at the backyard where all the culinary herbs and spices the plants of chilli, coriander, basil, rosemary, thymes and others would be planted.
For the moment suffice with the Pokok Mangga Madu and Pokok Jambu Batu Merah both grown "tot" trees and at bearing fruit stage alredi.  @ cost RM$45

Next week balek kampung dah boleh petik buah jambu batu as a few small fruits are already sprouting out from the branches.

107. the Roof

7:30 AM
05-07/11/10: this deepavali weekend stay came with a shock to see our top roof slightly damaged due to strong winds/ribut, was told the area was stormed somewhere last monday. Actually when we arrived late thursday nite we didnt notice any laying debris on the grass that could give away the damaged roof. We only realised on friday afternoon after being told by our front neighbour Hj Rahman of the sight above way up of the misplaced roof trusses! Alhamdullilah though our damaged was not so extensive as our front corner neighbour where even their TV aerial was bend outofshaped due to the force of the formidable winds. The repair was done on Saturday evening when the labourer from UEM customer service office came to fix the front neighbour house and thanks to all our concerned neighbours for being there for us.

To Durga and family happy dewali and thanks for the dinner and thoughtful act.

105. our Life ROI

2:36 AM
Living cost (unbelievable) mthly bills include:
water RM$4
electricty RM$80-$100 (full utilization of 5 aircons, heaters & ovens)
Astro RM$80 (pkg living & discovery channels + sports + astro citra movies)
Gas RM$20 # (since May still 1 tong)
Comes out mthly = RM$164 (exclude #)

It makes economic sense to live here and earn S$.

But not now....our kids "belum jadi lagi"
schooling here is another option we explored and visited Sri Omega Int'l School was impressed
with the British curriculum offered but not now.....
For now let it be our transitional getaway home

on to unmeasurable cost
Living here makes us realize the value of peaceful and unhurried pace
Community socializing berMarsyarakat

For now let it be our R & D expenditure i.e
Retreat and lets see how it Develops from here....

2:18 AM

Invitation to rumah terbuka anak Kak Siti jiran berhadapan rumah who just moved in officially last tuesday. The spread were delicious.

Get to meet with familiar faces - family of timothy, adam & suhana and the rest. They were the first few who moved in, one family as early as late Dec last year. Last few months ago they organised a simple bbq among all neighbours of precint 5. Fun gathering - we enjoyed it alot. Would be good to have another get-to-noe bbq with lots of potluck food.

100. Blogging

6:06 PM

Surfing here is not your usual highway speed experience we're used to. But suffice for kids doing research, facebooking, twittering and blogging. Youtube able to view only exercise patient downloading

Opt for celcom Broadband which by the way u can use the card on 3Gs phone & direct your call to this Johor number big saving on spore line. If not wrong we're paying monthly abt rm$68. Sign up from a celcom shop at Giant (Bestari).

It can also be turn into wireless multiple surfing from a few laptop & computers simply by buying an adapter and plug in to the main telephone.

A good alternative would be to wait for TIME Netlynx as it offers 10 mpbs connection in msia only available at Damansara Perdana, Selangor & Nusa Idaman, JB. But last time I enquired (@ bestaria market) the lines available only at precint 2 & 3 only. Guess our area not populated enuf yet for them to open the line.

99. berKampung

12:53 AM
Sat, 24/07/10
True to Irene update yesterday and today we see new occupants coming in for precint 5B houses (which are to the left of our house).  The road in front of house has been busy with cars be it J and S plats driving in and out, obviously after collecting their keys from the customer office and straight to their newly acquired houses.  How excited all must be just like we were about 7 months ago (how time flies).  How we coping and the experience of living here (though only on weekends) that would be another post altogether.

Back to new owners, we instanly acquired new neighbours which we welcome the most as this will bring in the vibrant of living berKampung (nostalgia like olden days only then semua rumah kayu).
Yesterday we purposely drove to the other side just to mix around and see any from our hometown which a nice surprise to note there are many.

Since last two week the 3 houses immediately infront of our house the houses have alredi been occupied and alhamdullilah have met and get-to-noe them.  Must confess with all these new acquintances some names have escaped us (short span of memories dah!).  Tak ingat name tapi rupa macam pernah nampak gitu..

JJ's fren also drop by yesterday whom is interested to berKampung di sini, so recommended them (mcm agent lak) the semi-D and luckily Irene (thank you) was around to attend their queries. Kalau ade jodoh welcome to nusa Idaman.

98. Customer Office

6:02 AM
Last week we collected our renovation deposit from the office of Nusa Idaman.

Nurul (the customer officer) followed up on our earlier complaint about the delay of the fund which took almost 2 months after submission the refund form.  The reason was simply they lost our form (eventhough delivered personally and was attended then by a green officer) imagine that! Well to cut long story short and to spare from narrating the reaction we (especially dear hubby - wak(tak)sabar) reached near boiling point, after spewing out our *&#$@??!!*** we were pacified by the calm of Nurul who promised to expediate...which she delivered.  Thank you very much.

Our complaints on the water spot marks we found at 3 location of false ceiling were also followed up promptly  and last week the officer of Nusa Idaman came with the contractor and had an indonesian labourer put some silicons on the roof of the localised area.  Last 2 days received a call from nusa idaman office enquiry whether the problems solved.  Thank you very much.

After liasing with customer service department on various issues I notice that on any matters that we raised we have to closely follow up (kejar) and "show" assertively our complaints then only they are taken seriously.
If I can share the advise we received from our very first neigbhour Adam (bumi) that " if gi office komplain mesti sampai hentak-hentak meja....baru mereka act on it"  tahu tak tak ape. Thank you very much.

Seriously, credit will be given when is due.  A bouquet of flower to Mdm NURUL - the customer offcer of Nusa Idaman for giving us the best service experience we had so far, appreciate your effort. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

Note:To new house owner do check on all false ceilings under the roof of water damp marks during heavy rain and report accordingly as this will save you in future as if left unattended - the false ceilings will disintegrate and you have a leaking house to fix.

latest edition to our garden. A native tree from china not found grown here, a reason why we chose this particular plant for our very first Bonsai.

Bought at the carpark of Giant Bestari where the China salemen having their sales at the moment. Remember to bargain hard as we brought the price down from rm$380 to rm$200. How we communicated was thru punching the numbers at his calculator!

95. Garden Quinessential

3:12 AM

An important item to maintain our garden. A grass cutter bought from giant, since our garden is a small plot we decided to opt for this then the big mower. It makes a good exercise machine also.

the grass has grown pretty much after 3-4 mths which is very fast, needed to have the trim soonest if not the underneath will wither & dry.

01/06/2010
we finally applied for the Malaysia Automated Clearing System at Pusat Sehenti Gelang Patah immigration.  arrived there at 6.30 pm fortunately we were the only applicants at that moment. it took them some 1 hour later about 7.25 pm to call each passport holder one by one (with interval of 5 minutes in between) to settle all 5 passports.  first name called was suffi followed by insyirah, then haatim, JJ next and last but not least khairul.  if you're wondering whether i miss my own name no mistake here as I didn't qualify as my passport expiring in less than a year.  to all the above next entry to idaman will be a breeze no white form required just flash the sticker pasted at the passport.

to qualify:
passport holder expiry date more than 2 years
at least 4 chops entry in a week
payment of RM$30 (validity 1 year)
lots of patient doing the waiting game.

86. our inaugural Family gathering

7:11 AM
MayDay holiday 01/05/2010 the weekends where the family members of HMS had our first family bbq nite together.  The company of family members spending time is priceless.  Chatting, laughing, eating, kidz playing games, adults eating, gossiping, catching up, watching epl, eating and some snoozing away.

In the midst of simple setting and surrounded by loving family in our cozy suasana home that we've acquired & spending many hours turning it to our haven I felt blessed and syukur for this moment sharing our humble Teratak with the rest of the family.

85. Gardening

6:42 AM
Did some planting of 4 passion fruits (markissa), 2 types of flowering creepers and  2 jerimin plants. All nicely lined up at the exterior of our gate.  In 8 months time or sooner (according to the nursery apek) we hope the creepers will climb the gate covering the verandah bearing sweet sour passion fruits with the interperse of white and purplish flowers.  At the backyard kitchen window planted a gum tree with the sweet smelling eucalptus leaves and on the latch of the window the only herb for the moment is sweet basil (pokok daun selasih)  For now I'm would be gratefull if the plants survive till this weekend when we meet again. Insya allah.
