78. aerial
9:49 PMSun, 28/03/10
We decided to have a separate aerial installed as astro doesnt has spore channels.
the tv guys came again the following day to fix the tall aerial up on the roof. after the fixing when he done fine tuning all the captured signals received now we have very clear spore stations and added bonus of 8 indonesian channels.
so many shows/programs/dramas to view wat with astro channels how to watch all during the weekends.
Two small tweaking we need to address are:
1. a decoder for the astro to view at multiple TVs with each remote (set back same channel viewing)
1. a switch splinter to enable viewing thru normal channels direct from aerial or from disk satellite astro channel
the above 2 will be done this coming sunday, 4/4 another appt with the apek guys.
will update total cost after completion.
77. Astro
9:18 PM
Sat, 27/03/2010
We had an appointment with the TV guys to install our aerial & astro. We didnt engage them thru direct counters that could be found at giant or tesco supermarkets but instead from a flyer contact found inserted at our mailbox about 3 days ago. Found from 4X that getting this apek guy is more expensive rm$50 for astro installation while direct astro counter rm$30 but we decided to go ahead with calling the shop as we also found out from abgK whom registered direct from astro counter that it had been more than 1 week nobody contacted him for installation. Paid extra rm$20 to get prompt delivery would be more value that doing the waiting game.
They came ard 6.00 pm and directly fixed the Astro satellite up at the roof. The apek fill up the registration form for us which they require a photocopy of IC and being a foreigner they need a copy of utility bill also to verify us as the home owner. The package that we took was apart from the many channels of free available 2 mini ie fun (cartoon) and learning (discovery channel) + sport costing mthly subscription of RM$60. He informed that he need to send the form to KL for registration and ask to wait for 2-3 days for KL to call us to activate. And (un)expectedly on last Tuesday a lady from astro KL office called me up to verify all the particulars and informed that it will be activated in 2 days time. Now being saturday we've Astro channels alredi. best.

73. 5 days of turning our house into a home
6:39 AM
Last week as from Wednesday, 17/03 straight to Sunday, 21/03 we were going in and out crossing the causeway for 5 straight days. Each day going in as early as dawn and getting back home ard eleventish.
We've set appointments with the various contractors, carpeting, nursery and other errands to coincide with our school holiday leaves. Earlier we thought that all works could be completed before the school holidays as all the construction works were done but due to some inevitable setbacks (expected I guess) the final carpentering still going on making it impossible for the final acid wash of the whole house to be done in the same week.
The tight schedule we oversee were:
Wed, 17/03: went in just the 2 of us
1. contractors clearing out the rubbish
2. work on transforming the garden
3. went to Ah foo nursery @ Pontian with abg K order of plants
Thurs, 18/03: went in just the 2 of us
1. work on feature wall & family room platform begins
2. css carpet guy came to measure & quote for the stairs & master bedroom
3. work and installation of aluminium wardrobe @ masterbedroom walk-in-wardrobe
4. buying of lightings, paintings and porcelain sinki
Fri, 19/03: went in with the kidz with suffi & haatim overnite at Horizon Hill
1. work on feature wall continues
2. installation of lightings done by JJ
3. painting of verandah interior white and exterior green done by JJ and MKN
Sat, 20/03: went in just the 2 of us with suffi & haatim came in later from 4X
1. work on feature wall continues with them replacing the dented formica and took out the door to be fixed next tuesday to complete with the border for the family platform.
2. electrician men came to fix our TV on the unfinished feature wall, lightings for this area and the platform area plus the garden lightings
4. Aircon guys came and installed all aircons
3. Nursery apek came & planted the 5 plants
4. painting work continues final layers done by JJ and 4X
Since we've our aircons we decided to overnight there. Our very first stayover the experience was shared with Suffi & Haatim very excited! after clearing the masterbedroom we laid down our inflatable matteresses with the aircon on and had a contented sleep there, syukur about 80% of our dream realised....Amin.
Sun, 21/03: woke up feeling tired otherwise jubilant.
1. JJ doing gardening fixing the sprinklers
2. the washing guys didnt turn up reschedule to next thursday
3. Alex came handover 3rd payment to him
4. we did some final clearing for thurs washing
5. set for sg home early in the evening to avoid the holiday jam
phew setting our home is not an easy task but definitely an exciting journey
